"To fight today's attacks, organizations need a more connected security strategy," he says. "Practitioners have been buying security in isolation for the last 15 years. These security solutions are not talking to each other."

As a result, Sharma advises security leaders considering investing in a new solution to carefully assess whether it can work in tandem with other security technologies already in place as part of a coordinated defense.

In this video interview at Information Security Media Group's Fraud & Breach Prevention Summit in New Delhi, Sharma, who was a featured speaker at the summit, also talks about:

  • Minimizing damage from ransomware attacks;
  • Predictions for ransomware trends in the coming months;
  • Recommendations for how security practitioners can effectively fight the ransomware challenge.

Sharma is the managing director for Sophos in India and SAARC. He joined the company in 2015 as part of Sophos' acquisition of the prominent network security company Cyberoam, where he was responsible for the sales and operations for these regions. He has over 25 years of experience in IT, security and storage, having previously worked at McAfee, EMC Data Storage, Iris Computers.
