Securing Apps in the Cloud
Cisco’s Timothy Snow on Making the Right Security DecisionsOne of the keys to security in cloud is to have a "lean branch of security," says Timothy Snow, principal architect, security solutions at Cisco.

“The agility that you get by not having this whole stack of complicated infrastructure [makes security easier] to manage. This where SD-WAN can come in,” Snow says.
SD-WAN can optimize the performance of an entire technology stack while achieving robust security, he says. SD-WAN appliances often provide the fundamental level of security such as a zone-based firewall, he points out. These appliances can then manage policies for routing and performance while internet access is directed toward the cloud security solution for protection against malware, advanced threats, phishing, browser exploits, malicious URLs, botnets and more.
In a video interview previewing an upcoming Information Security Media Group roundtable, Snow also discusses:
- Why cloud security continues to be a challenge;
- How to achieve a "lean branch of security";
- How best to ensure cloud security.
