Information Security Media Group, the leading media provider to the information security community, convened its inaugural Singapore Fraud and Breach Prevention Summit on Nov. 22 at the Suntec Convention Center. The Summit brought senior security professionals from such countries as Singapore, China, Malaysia and India. ISMG will host its final cybersecurity event of 2016 in New Delhi Dec. 1 and 2.

“Our latest Summit in Singapore was our first in the Southeast Asia, filling a growing need for real-world cybersecurity insight. Our attendees valued the experience meeting with industry influencers leaving with actionable strategies to counter cyber threats,” said Sameer Saxena, Managing Director, Asia and Middle East, at the Summit’s close.

The Singapore Summit featured senior industry experts from banking, government, law enforcement and legal, among others. Yum Shoen Yih of the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore gave the morning keynote address, which discussed how to protect Singapore’s critical ICT infrastructure from cyber threats. Christian Karam, former Head of Cyber Research at Interpol, examined data breach incidents from a cybercriminal’s point of view and how to counter the growing number of organized cybercrime schemes.

Members of the vendor community engaged with senior cybersecurity practitioners including Skybox’s Kenneth J. Ratnam who led a technology session focused on the visible attack surface and the importance of protecting it. WinMagic’s Roghen Sabapathee, in his session, discussed the ways in which attack vectors are changing and the ways in which cybersecurity professionals can continue to combat them.

The Singapore Summit brought together members of the ISMG global editorial team who report daily on cybersecurity news in such ISMG publications as DataBreachToday, BankInfoSecurity and InfoRiskToday. Mathew Schwartz, Executive Editor DataBreachToday, led a session that reviewed the top data breaches of 2016 and strategies that organizations can use to thwart potential breaches going forward.
