Philippines National Security Policy: Build Cyber Resiliency
Aboitiz Group CISO on the Right Use of AI and the Importance of Data ManagementThe recently released National Security Policy emphasizes building cybersecurity resilience in the Philippines. The government wants businesses to focus on protecting identity, push for cybersecurity education and protect critical infrastructure from external cyberattacks, said Charmaine Valmonte, CISO of Aboitiz Group.

The policy emphasizes the use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and deep learning to protect critical infrastructure.
"With artificial intelligence, it is important to ensure we utilize tools that are trustworthy. Today, data used across the globe in terms of AI is in that space. Businesses need to ensure that the data is trustworthy and only then can AI develop," Valmonte said.
Valmonte said it is important for businesses to understand the right areas where they can us AI. "The first place I will start with for AI is security operations. We are already doing that. It is a matter of utilizing the right large language model. The majority of the large language models that we have today are coherent but do not necessarily make sense."
