Cory Mazzola, a cybersecurity leader at Las Vegas Sands Corp., the world's largest gaming and hospitality company, says recruiting security pros amid a talent shortage requires putting aside expectations about degrees and backgrounds. Instead, companies looking to fill vacancies now need to be willing to develop new skills in their new hires.
"If I'm looking for someone who's going to be a cybersecurity project manager or a technical integrator, I don't need someone with 10 or 15 years cybersecurity experience," he says in an interview with Information Security Media Group. "I'm going to look at someone with good technical background and maybe experience with programming or architecture and bring them in and grow that skill set organically."
