Lastline's Christopher Kruegel on the Need for Security Companies to Collaborate
The Case for Solutions Integration

Staying current in threat detection is key, which is why more security companies need to embrace a more open way of thinking when it comes to solutions integration, says Christopher Kruegel, CEO of Lastline. By adopting more open application program interfaces that play well together, threat detection and network monitoring providers can complement one another for the benefit of the industry, he says.

In this audio interview conducted at RSA Conference 2017, Kruegel discusses:

  • Why organizations should not rely on stand-alone products for threat detection and risk mitigation;
  • How integrated solutions from multiple vendors can help reduce false positives in threat detection; and
  • Why sharing threat intel with competitors has become the norm.

In addition to being Lastline's CEO, Kruegel is a professor of computer science at UC Santa Barbara. He also heads a working group that advised the European Commission on defenses to mitigate future threats against the internet and Europe's cyber infrastructure.
