"The nature and sophistication of the attacks has evolved," says Hatem Naguib of Barracuda Networks. Indeed, organizations report a sharp rise not only in ransomware attacks but increasingly sophisticated - and targeted - social engineering attacks and account takeovers for cloud service users.
In a video interview at the recent Infosecurity Europe conference in London, Naguib discusses:
- How social engineering attacks continue to improve;
- The prevalence of "hit and run" ransomware attacks;
- The increase in cloud service account takeovers;
- Why user training remains essential.
Naguib is senior vice president and general manager of the security business at Barracuda Networks, where he has global responsibility for leading Barracuda's security product strategy. He's previously served as vice president of networking and security at VMware, and has held engineering and sales leadership positions at several startups and global corporations, including CenterRun (acquired by Sun Microsystems), GE, The Walt Disney Company and Accenture, among other roles.
